Street Paving Crew

Image

A crew of sixteen construction workers pose in front of a dry batch paving machine marked "O'Dea & Shafer, Contractors, Madison, [Wis.]" The machine, which appears to be steam-powered and run on steel wheels, rests on a gravel surface, with a freshly poured concrete road on the left. Bags of cement (?) are stacked in the lower right corner, and a house and trees occupy the background. Three boys look on from behind the paver on the right.
