Portrait of Knut Iversen Vike, Company F, 15th Wisconsin Infantry, in his Civil War uniform. The following information is in the published Roster of Wisconsin Volunteers: Knud Iversen enlisted as a Private on 18 Jan 1862, and was credited to Dane County. He died 31 December 1862 at the battle of Stone(s) River, Tennessee. (Vike was his Norwegian farm name; a farm name was often added to the patronymic as a surname after they had been in the U.S. for a period of time.) This portrait was labeled circa 1916 by Waldemar Ager (apparently in error) as being Knut Larson Gjermo of Company H, 15th Wisconsin Infantry. See the Additional Information note below.
