A seated waist-up studio portrait of Ole K. Hanson, a sergeant in Company A, 15th Wisconsin Infantry in uniform. The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He held residence in Madison, Wisconsin. On October 15, 1861 he enlisted in Chicago, Illinois and on November 15, 1861, he was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin. From September to October 1862 he served as Wagon Master. On May 27, 1864, during the fighting on Altoona Mountain near Dallas, Georgia (New Hope Church), he was listed as missing in action when he was left on the field and taken prisoner. He did not muster out with A Company.
