The following information was obtained from the Regimental and Descriptive Rolls, Volume 20: He resided in Oxford, Wisconsin. On January 04, 1862, he enlisted in Beloit, Wisconsin and was mustered into service in Madison, Wisconsin [no mustered date given] at the age of 29. On December 10, 1862, he was absent-sick in a hospital in Mound City, Illinois. On January 10, 1863 he was discharged from service for disability at Cairo, Illinois
