Thordarson's Multiple Lighting Transformer

Image

Rendering of a Thordarson Electical Manufacturing Company product. Chester Thordarson was a Chicago inventor and manufacturer of electical apparatus, famous for inventing the electrical transformer in 1904. He was also known for his bequest of what was the core of the UW-Madison rare book collection and his estate on Rock Island in Door County. These items, from Thordarson's Electrical Specialties catalog, are transformers for low voltage tungsten lamps. They are described as embodying "all the essentials of a perfect design, electrical, magnetic, and mechanical."
