Eastern newspapers report on Black Hawk's 1833 tour
Newspaper Articles from Black Hawk's Tour in 1833
After the war, in early 1833, Black Hawk and several other Sauk prisoners were put on tour in several northern American cities, including Philadelphia, New York, Boston, Albany, Buffalo, and Detroit. These newspaper clippings from that year describe how he was received, relate anecdotes about how he coped with his celebrity, and include a brief speeche by him in Philadelphia.
