Early Railway History, Suggested by the Removal of the Old La Crosse Depot


In this letter to the editor of the Milwaukee Sentinel, the author recounts the history of railroads in Wisconsin, especially that of the La Crosse and Milwaukee line. He argues that in the development of every railroad, there are three distinct phases: yearning, enthusiasm, and corruption.
