Towns and counties across Wisconsin sought to encourage settlement by extolling the virtues of their particular area. County Clerk Orville Brayton provides here a description of the natural resources, topography, and agricultural diversity of Barron County to entice prospective settlers at a time when settlement in northern Wisconsin was still sparse.
