Official guidebook for the Wisconsin Centennial Exposition, 1948
The Wisconsin Century Book: official publication of the Wisconsin Centennial Exposition, August 7-29, 1948
This is the official program of the Wisconsin Centennial Exposition held August 7-29, 1948. Its 180 pages not only describe events at the state fair grounds (beginning on page 88) but also provide essays on Wisconsin history. These include summaries of Wisconsin agriculture, industry, labor, transportation, food, brewing, conservation, press, broadcasting, art, music, education, women, youth, and the Alice in Dairyland contest. Sixty pages are given to the history and development of each Wisconsin county and dozens of advertisements reveal the culture of Wisconsin businesses in 1948. This book was selected from the papers of Merle C. Palmer, secretary of the 1948 Wisconsin State Centennial Committee.
