The first drive-in movie theater in the country opened in Camden, New Jersey, in 1933, melding the automobile age with Hollywood fantasy. Drive-ins proved so popular that more than 5000 were operating by 1958. Although well past their peak in popularity, drive-ins can still be found in a number of places around Wisconsin. The Starlite Drive-in was located in Green Bay.
