A bricklayer recalls storming the Milwaukee jail to liberate Glover

Helped save Glover


A recent immgrant from Cornwall, James S. Angove (1823-1902), was the demonstrator who seized a beam from a nearby construction site to batter down the Milwaukee courthouse door on March 11, 1854. In this interview he recalls the events of that night in detail, including how he became caught up in the event and how Glover escaped pursuit via the underground railroad.
