Thordarson Company electrical supply catalogs, 1920-1925
Chester Thordarson (1867-1945) came here from his native Iceland as a child, and began experimenting with electricity in 1888. In 1894 he started his own company to supply transformers and other electrical infrastructure components to utilities and industrial plants. He is best remembered in Wisconsin today for the country estate he built on remote Rock Island, off the tip of the Door Penninsula, and for the rare book collection he bequeather to the University of Wisconsin. These three short catalogs of his firm's merchandise show the essential equipment that made widespread electrification possible.
