Description
Learn about the fascinating methods that Ojibwe people have used for centuries to gather sap from maple trees and create the tasty syrup we all love. Through a variety of fun activities and informative facts, young readers will learn about the sugaring process—including how to identity a maple tree and how to transform tree sap into sugary syrup—all the way from the forest to the kitchen table. They'll also learn many Ojibwe words and traditions.
The Ojibwe Traditions Coloring and Activity Book Series offers children and their families the opportunity to learn about Ojibwe lifeways and teachings in an engaging and accessible manner. Included in each coloring book are word scrambles, mazes, and other activities to help children and their families engage more deeply with the information and have fun at the same time. While younger children (3+) can enjoy simply coloring the pages, older children (6+) can also use the stories and glossaries to start learning more about the language and traditions of the Ojibwe people.
The other books in the series are The Powwow Coloring Book, The Storytelling Coloring Book, and Wild Ricing Coloring and Activity Book—all available from the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.
