Description

The Powwow Coloring and Activity Book presents engaging coloring and word activities related to all aspects of the traditional Ojibwe gathering known as the powwow. Included are rules to remember, explanations of powwow roles, respect for veterans, the importance of the drum, and the various dance styles. A glossary of Ojibwe words rounds out the learning experience.

The Ojibwe Traditions Coloring and Activity Book Series offers children and their families the opportunity to learn about Ojibwe lifeways and teachings in an engaging and accessible manner. Included in each coloring book are word scrambles, mazes, and other activities to help children and their families engage more deeply with the information and have fun at the same time. While younger children (3+) can enjoy simply coloring the pages, older children (6+) can also use the stories and glossaries to start learning more about the language and traditions of the Ojibwe people.

The other books in the series are The Sugaring Coloring Book, The Storytelling Coloring Book, and the Wild Ricing Coloring and Activity Book—all available from the Wisconsin Historical Society Press.
