Additional Comments
When first surveyed in 1977 a small clapboard-clad shed-roofed wing had already been added to the rear of the house and it is still extant today (2021) and has been resided in vinyl clapboards. 2021: This substantial two-story-tall Gable Ell Vernacular Form house has a cruciform plan, it rests on a cut stone foundation, and its walls are clad in cream brick, and they are sheltered by the house’s intersecting gables main roof. The main façade faces Beloit St., and it has a projecting two-story-tall center upright that is flanked on both sides by equal height two-story ells. On this façade, the first story of both of these ells contains an entrance door that is flanked by a segmental-arched window opening and these entrances are both sheltered by their original open wood porches, which still retain most of their elaborate decorative wooden elements. These porches are not equal in size, though, and it is not known if the building was originally organized as a duplex and served more than one family. Plat maps show that the house was already in existence by 1891, at which time it was owned by O. E. Ovestrud, and it was probably built ca.1875.
