Property Features
This two-story house is veneered with stone and features a corner entrance tower, characteristic
of the Norman subtype of the French Provincial Revival style. This house is probably a circa
1890 house, altered to create its current appearance around 1942 (City of Rhinelander tax rolls;
Rhinelander telephone books). This alteration was done for Melvin and Cora Levknecht, who
owned the house from at least 1943 until at least 1991 (Rhinelander City Directories). It is still
in the Levknecht family. This house is a good and intact example of French Provincial Revival
style, and appears to be the only example of that style in Rhinelander.
