This building has some historic interest as the modern home of an historic bank, the old Merchants Bank, now part of the Marine Banks chain. But it is not, at this time, individually significant, nor does it contribute to the historic district.
A recently constructed contemporary styled bank building, the Marine Bank is a cream and beige brick block articulated by large, plain rectangular windows and doors.
The Marine Bank building is not architecturally significant because it is of modern-contemporary design and less than 50 years old. As a result, this building does not contribute to the historic character of the proposed Main Street Historic District.
