This house was built by businessman Heber Smith in the 1860s. Another prominent family, the William Pritzlaff family lived there between c. 1919 and c. 1936. Pritzlaff was a prominent hardware merchant.
This house has some historical interest as the home of Heber Smith and William Pritzlaff, both prominent businessmen.
This house, built for J. Heber Smith, owner of the historic Rough and Ready Dam and Milling Company in the 1860s, has retained the steep multigabled roof, the ornamental bargeboards, as well as the assymetrical, picturesque appearance associated withe the Gothic Revival style. The porches have been removed, additions have been made and replacement windows added.
