Altered eclectic residence incorporating Queen Anne, and Second Empire features. A matching carriage house has been converted to a residence. One of two outstanding examples in the city.
Built by Alexander Syme, early Menasha Water Power tycoon, the house became the home of the Gilbert family, nearly all of whom built in the area. This was the first mansion built on Forest Ave. and began the exodus of Menasha's industrialists to the Neenah side of Doty Island.
