This house is architecturally significant as a fine example of the Queen Anne style. The massive quality of the plan, along with the classical details, especially the fine veranda, makes this a good and typical example of the style.
The house was probably built for Chauncy Medberry, president of the Gurney Refridgerator Company, a successful industry in Fond du Lac. It was soon taken over by William Coughlin, the owner of a meat market.
Initial research indicates that the occupants of this house were not historically significant. Further research may uncover information that may make them significant in the future.
