Additional Comments
REDUCED DETAIL AND A MORE REGULAR FORM CHARACTERIZE THIS LATE QUEEN ANNE RESIDENCE. A POLYGONAL TURRET IS A DOMINANT FEATURE. THE TWO-AND-A-HALF STORY BUILDING HAS AN IRREGULAR PLAN CONFIGURATION, A GABLE ROOF, A CUT STONE FOUNDATION, AND A CLAPBOARD EXTERIOR. WOOD SHINGLES COVER THE TOWER'S DOMED ROOF. THE HOUSE WAS FOUND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION AND TAX RECORDS SHOW THAT IT WAS BUILT IN 1893.

HISTORICAL BACKGROUND:
FRANK SCHREINER, SON OF MERCHANT, JOHN SCHREINER, SERVED AS LANCASTER'S MAYOR AT THE TURN OF THE CENTURY. (C). HE WAS ALSO INVOLVED WITH HIS FATHER AND BROTHERS IN JOHN SCHREINER & SONS MERCHANTILE LOCATED AT 132 EAST MAPLE STREET, 42/30.

THE SCHREINER RESIDENCE, WHICH HAS UNDERGONE LITTLE ALTERATION SINCE ITS CONSTRUCTION, IS PICTURED IN LANCASTER'S SOUVENIR. (B)

AN ASSOCIATED GARAGE BUILDING LOCATED BEHIND THE HOUSE WAS ALSO SURVEYED AND HAS ITS OWN ahi# (155921)
