J. HOLMSTAD WAS THE BUILDER. OLE WAS A JANITOR. He was born on 9/4/1868 and came to the U.S. and Stoughton in 1888. He died at a Madison hospital on 3/6/1931. At the time of his death he had two sisters: Mrs. Stena Peterson of Chicago and Miss Tilla Stone of Racine. He also had a brother named Hans who also lived in Chicago. Services were held at Christ Lutheran Church. He's buried at East Side Cemetery. Helen died on 9/7/1951 at Skaalen Sunset Home for the Aged. Services were held at Larson Funeral Home. She lived at Skaalen Sunset Home since 5/1942 except for nine months after the Skaalen Home fire. During this span she lived with her nephew John Nettum and his wife in Stoughton. Helen was born on 9/30/1866 in Otre, Toten, Norway and came to the U.S. in 1883. She lived in DeKalb, Illinois for seven years. She settled in Stoughton and married Ole in 4/1892. She was a member of Christ Lutheran Church Ladies Aid Society. She's buried at East Side Cemetery. At the time of her death, she had a sister living in Norway and her brother-in-law Andrew Nettum in Stoughton. Nephews John, Neal, Albert, Carl and Alvin Nettum lived in Stoughton while Bennie Nettum lived in Janesville and Otto Nettum lived in Madison. Nieces Mrs. Alvin Christianson and Mrs. Anfin Holtan lived in Stoughton.
