2005-This house was last surveyed in 1991 and no visible exterior changes have been made to the home since that time. Assessor's records note an 1895 date of construction. While that is the approximate date that the house achieved its current form and size, exactly half the size of the existing house was in place by no later than 1886. The 1895 Sanborn depicts the current form of the home. City directories indicate that the earliest known owner/occupant of the home was Rev. H.P. Haylett, a lecturer at Lawrence University (1896-97). Earlier comments note a Colonial Revival influence; however, it more represents the transition from Queen Anne to Colonial Revivial, through the combination of the pediment with sunburst and the dentil cornice trim.
