Lloyd Barbee, an influential African-American Lawyer, had his law office located here in Suite 1010 in 1967.
"On this site stood Milwaukee's first business enterprise. The trading post owned by Solomon Juneau, affable former voyageur, did such a thriving business that by 1835 Juneau was able to support his claim to an entire quarter section of land on the east side of the Milwaukee River. Soon he was selling lots instead of furs, and the settlement called Juneautown was established. Juneau's trading post is illustrated in a plaque on the front of this building, placed there by Frederick Pabst, for whom the structure was erected in 1892. The appearance of Pabst's building has changed since then, however, as the threat of crumbling masonry forced removal of its sizable tower."
