THIS BRICK, TWO-STORY, FLAT SLOPING ROOFED COMMERCIAL STRUCTURE WITH A DENTICULATED AND CUT-BRICK CORNICE CONTINUOUS WITH THE ADJACENT STRUCTURE AT 60 - 70 EAST MAIN STREET, AND SIMILAR KEYSTONE ACCENTED ROUND ARCHED WINDOW HEADS AND CORBELED STONE SILLS TO THE ADJACENT STRUCTURE AT 60 - 70 EAST MAIN, BUT PLACED DIFFERENTLY IN THE FACADE. THE STORE FRONT HAS BEEN COMPLETELY ALTERED IN CONTEMPORARY TIMES. A ONE STORY ADDITION IS AT THE REAR. IN 1884, THIS BUILDING WAS A CIGAR STORE, AND IN 1892, IT BECAME A GENERAL STORE. THE DATE OF CONSTRUCTION VARIES AMONG SOURCES. ACCORDING TO THE INTENSIVE SURVEY REPORT, IT WAS BUILT IN 1874, AND ACCORDING TO THE INVENTORY CARD FOR THIS BUILDING, IT WAS BUILT EITHER IN 1874 OR 1871. (SEE BIB. REF. A)
