Additional Comments
A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. In use as an apartment building as of 2002. This 2.5 story red brick Neo-Classical Revival building with terra cotta trim was built in 1906 by Henry and Otto Jung to the designs of W.C. Weeks. Sheboygan County Landmark. Jung’s sons proved more successful at making work boots in their Jung Shoe Manufacturing Company, which operated from 1909 until 1988. They started, however, by simply wholesaling shoes. To house their offices and warehouse, in 1906 local architect William Weeks created a two-story Beaux-Arts Classical edifice, ornamented with terracotta. Notice the fluted Ionic columns, the ornate capitals atop the pilasters, the classical egg-and-dart and bead-and-reel moldings, and the elaborate swag above the entrance. More utilitarian additions made in 1909 and 1912 housed the factory.
