Additional Comments
2024: The original 1849 rectory is a one-and-one-half-story, rectangular-plan, side-gable building with a stone foundation and replacement clapboard siding. It features endboards and a simple wood frieze board. The asphalt-shingle roof features an interior brick chimney and eave returns. Windows are wood frame, six-over-six sash. The main entrance on the front (northeast) facade is a wood-panel door with a multi-light transom and sidelights. It is accessed by a modern wood deck with a vinyl railing. Each side (northwest and southeast) elevation features two windows and the rear (southwest) elevation has a single window on each story. A free-standing wood sign in front of the building reads “House of the Venerable Fr. Samuel Mazzuchelli, OP from 1849 to 1864.” In 1912 the building was moved one block northwest to nearby Bean Street and repurposed as a residence. The church repurchased the building in 1989 and returned it to the complex to serve as a small house museum dedicated to Father Mazzuchelli.
