Additional Comments
2024: This building, originally occupied by Isackson’s clothing store, was completed in the spring of 1954. The business was originally established by Latvian native, Barney Isackson who moved to Rhinelander, Wisconsin in 1915, where he opened his first women’s wear store. Barney died in October 1953, just four months after opening a “branch” store in an existing building at 102 East Wall Street. That building was removed at the end of the summer season and construction of the new building began in the fall of that same year. Following its 1954 opening, Barney’s son Bill served as the store manager. After two summer seasons, the building was sold in fall of 1955. The next known owner/occupant was another ladies’ wear store known as Country Clothes. Since 2019, the building has been home to a branch of Minocqua Popcorn & Puffs, a business initially established in 2004 in nearby Minocqua.
