This dilapidated storage building stands within the NRHP Kaukauna Locks Historic District but was not counted as an element within it when listed in 1993, nor has it been previously inventoried in the AHI. The building was noted in the 1995 HAER of the Kaukauna Lock & Dam, and it was noted that the "timber shed serves as part of the Fox River Project Office located at Kaukauna Lock 3. The timber shed is an integral part of the Kaukauna Locks and Dam Complex." The structure was used as timber storage and associated with the adjacent railroad and locks and dam complex. The NRHP nomination notes that the nearby railroad bridge was considered a contributing element in the historic district “due only to its location in the district, and the fact that it crosses the canal. It is not identified as a property type” in the nomination, as its significance is associated with the river’s lock and dam system rather than the railroad that crosses it. The narrow, rectangular-plan wood frame structure has a front gable roof and is in poor structural condition. The sliding doors on each end are missing or dilapidated, as are several sections of the wood lap cladding. Portions of the roof’s wood shingles are missing, and a section appears to be collapsing along the south wall. Location coordinates: -88.257, 44.283
