It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. The farmstead’s original two-story house was constructed in 1846 with one-story side wings constructed in 1847 (north) and 1848 (south); the house embodies a modest, vernacular interpretation of the Greek Revival style. This building is rectangular in plan with a concrete clad fieldstone foundation, vinyl siding (added in 1993 over the original clapboards), and asphalt-shingled gable roofs. The house’s primary character-defining features include its distinct three-mass composition (suggestive of the “temple and wings” subtype of the Greek Revival style), eave returns in all three building masses (another indication of its original Greek Revival design), a fieldstone foundation (partially covered in concrete on the exterior), and a frame of both hewn and unstripped timber (portions of which are exposed on the building’s interior).
