The Shorewood High School Auditorium was constructed in 1936 following a design by the firm of Herbst & Kuenzli. This 2-story Neoclassical building is rectangular in plan with brick walls and a flat roof. A stone cornice band runs the perimeter of the building just below the roofline. The east elevation is characterized by two slightly projecting entry bays that contain front entrances with stone surrounds that are capped by simple entablatures. The northern end of the east elevation contains a larger entrance comprised of two sets of double-doors with transoms above. The transoms and a large area above the doors that reaches to the cornice is covered by an ornamental metal screen. South of this entrance are three tall, rectangular brick banners separated by brick pilasters. The north elevation contains a slightly projecting central bay that features four monumental Tuscan columns with ornamental metal screening in the intervening spaces. A heavy entablature above the columns is inscribed “AUDITORIUM.” The majority of windows are 1-overr-1 with single-pane transoms above.
