A 'site file' exists for this property. It contains additional information such as correspondence, newspaper clippings, or historical information. It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. Built for travellers between Racine County and Milwaukee. Also was a focal point of the surrounding rural area known as New Koeln which was settled by a group of Germans who came to the Town of Lake in the 1840s. This build has been known as Deuster's Saloon in the 1870s and 1880s, New Coeln Housdance Hall, and the New Coeln House in the early twentieth century. At some time during the late nineteenth century the second floor was converted to a dance floor.
