This two story frame commercial building of ca. 1863 is designed in a residential version of early Victorian Italianate.
1973: "This little wood store...originally housed a cobbler shop and the owner's living quarters. It is evidently one of the older surviving commercial buildings on the city's south side. The exterior has been little altered over the years.
Alterations and Additions (as of 1973):
The permits record additional construction at the rear of the building but no other significant changes."
A Guide to Historic Walker's Point, 1978: "Frederick Vullmahn bought the lot on which this building stands for $330 in 1863. A boot and shoemaker, he worked and lived in this building until 1883, when he sold it to Henry Kratsch for $3,200. Kratsch owned the building until 1918."
