The Odana Hills Municipal Golf Course is an 18-hole course laid out on approximately 200 acres between Odana Road, Midvale Boulevard, Segoe Road and the West Beltline. Designed by E. Lawrence Packard according to plans in 1954, it was originally called the West Side Park Golf Course. The course is American style, and has bent grass greens and blue grass fairways. A drive curves from Odana Road at the northeast corner of the golf course, looping by the club house and emptying into a large curvilinear parking lot. A basketball court was added to the site east of the parking lot after 1985. The Contemporary club house was designed by John J. Flad & Associates in 1956. Set at the northeast corner of the golf course, near Odana Road, the club house is a one-story, bow-roofed structure veneered with stone rubble in a variety of shades. A pair of broad doors sheltered by a flat-roofed canopy give access to the club house from the east-facing (front) facade. Banks of windows across the rear of the building overlook the golf course. The West Side Park Golf Course opened c. 1955. Aerial maps and plans maintained by the city of Madison Parks Division show that the course layout has not changed since it was built. The West Beltline was present when the course was built and the expansion of the West Beltline in 1970 did not occasion any change to the golf courses plan. A small pond was added, a sand trap was removed, and the greens and sand traps were replaced over the years to maintain the course. However, these changes were cosmetic and did not alter the overall design of the golf course. 2026: Demolition permit to be filed.
