This five-story, Contemporary-style building is situated in the southwest corner of E. Michigan and N. Jefferson streets. It characterized by vertical lines. The north facade is divided into five bays, and each bay into four sections. All vertical lines extend the height of the building. The first third of the east facade is defined by a concrete panel that embodies two columns. The remaining two-thirds of the facade consist of six bays constructed as are those on the north. The entryway is sheltered and nestled in the northeast corner of the building.
It is likely that the building today has a structural core constructed of brick that predates 1937 and that was used as a factory. It was then owned by the McKesson-Robbins Company, a pharmaceutical distributor that evolved into a manufacturer. Ownership changed in the early 1960s when McKesson sold the building to the Red Star Yeast/Universal Foods Company. The building appears to have taken its current form as a result of a significant rehabilitation/remodeling project in which wall surfaces on the north and east, as well as a new heating and ventilating system within.
