It is a public record and may be viewed in person at the Wisconsin Historical Society, State Historic Preservation Office. STEEPLY PITCHED GABLED DORMERS FLANKING RECESSED ENTRY AND BALCONY. THE BUILDING EXHIBITS A MIX OF INFLUENCES BUT IS PRIMARILY ITALIANATE. ITALIANATE FEATURES INCLUDE SQUARE, BOXY MASS, WINDOW DETAILING AND BRACKETED CORNICE. This house is incorrectly noted in some sources as built in 1871 by Oliver Young. While Young did indeed have a house on this lot prior to 1881, it appears to have been purchased in 1875 by William Humphrey and moved to the lot adjacent to the south. Indeed, the newspaper chronicles Humphrey's purchase of the Young lot and house (3/4/1875) and indicates that the house was moved over its new cellar (26 May 1881), thus making Stupfell's lot ready for building. The subject house was erected in 1881 by John B. Stupfell. For his first three years in the Village of Sharon, he engaged in the harness business. Stupfell then worked as a bookkeeper with the dry goods concern of Wolf & Brownson for thirty-two years. John and his wife Emma remained in the subject home until their respective deaths in 1926 and 1927. Until at least 1930, the home remained in possession of the Stupfell Estate, which was administered by the Stupfell's widowed son in law, Warren Weaver. The home was later owned by Judson Storey into the 1940s and then by the Hardt family into the 1960s.
