Madeline Island Museum

The stories of the largest Apostle Island continue today to shine at the museum opened by Bella & Leo Capser in 1958. Their original collection has helped document centuries of island history, while later additions paint an even richer, deeper portrait of life on the Apostle Islands. The Ojibwe and other tribes made their home on Madeline Island for thousands of years before Europeans first made contact, serving as a strategic trading center for millennia.
