Edgerton, Wis. 1871

Map

Like many southeastern Wisconsin villages, Edgerton was settled by Yankee immigrants in the 1830s. Though this view gives no indication of it, by 1871 tobacco growing had become an important part of the village economy. The view does show streets, the railroad and railroad depot, public schools, American House, Exchange Hotel, and Methodist, Baptist, and Catholic churches. This copy is a photographic color reproduction.
