Catholic Church
Image
View from below of a small wooden church building standing at the edge of the Montello quarry. In the foreground cables stretch over the quarry hole. The printed inscription reads, "Montello Granite Co's Works, Montello, Wis. Photo by Kaufmann." In handwriting is the message, "Lizzie, come down tomorrow if you can and bring Charly and I will go home with you. This is a very pretty spot. and so quiet. Mother [unreadable] Love to all." The church building was moved shortly after this photograph was taken to allow for expansion of the quarry. A larger Catholic church was built in a different location in 1904.
