The Little Rock home of Daisy and L.C. Bates, showing their front window after a stone had been thrown through the window. Grates have been placed on this and other windows in order to prevent further damage. This event, which took place before the integration crisis began in September, was an indication that integration would not take place peacefully. The Bates continued to be the target of racial harassment because of Daisy's leadership in the integration effort.
