Millers Bank Insurance Building

Oval-framed view from street of the corner bank building at 111 S. Hamilton Street, with houses on the left and right. The main business is Millers Bank Insurance. It is also occupied by the Jas. Richardson and Co. Land Office and several law offices, including C. Abbott Law Office. It is the largest and most imposing building on the block. There is a long iron stairwell that leads from the sidewalk up to a second story entrance on the left side of the building, where two men are posing. The trees on the street appear to be newly planted and have fences around them. Manoah D. Miller, a Baptist minister, built this bank about 1857. He closed the bank in 1861. The building is no longer at 111 S. Hamilton and Main Street, near S. Carroll Street. It was replaced by the Jackman Building which was built in 1913.
