Engraved portrait of J. Wesley Carhart of Racine, Wisconsin. Carhart was a Methodist minister, physician, and inventor of a steam-powered automobile in 1873. The engraving appears to be his autobiography with the caption, "Four Years on Wheels, or Life as a Presiding Elder."
