Philleo Nash, Wisconsin Rapids cranberry grower, Democratic Party leader, and lieutenant governor, 1959-1961. From 1946 to 1952 he was a special assistant to President Truman on minority issues and as such was a target of attack by Senator Joseph R. McCarthy in 1951.
