He is holding the rope of a horse pull toy. The lower photographs appear to have been taken the same day. On the left, Stuart, age three, and his older sister Dorothy, age seven, are each sitting on a tricycle with large rear wheels. The backdrop is the brick wall of the front porch of the Fargo house.
