Manawa High School. It is postmarked 1930, the year in which Joseph R. McCarthy, certainly its most famous graduate, completed his high school curriculum. McCarthy had dropped out of school at age 14, but returned six years later while managing a grocery store in Manawa. He was able to complete the four-year course in one year.
