Salter Gravemarker

Salter marker between Necedah and New Lisbon, marks spot where some Indians killed a Mrs. George Salter on June 13, 1863. Mr. salter had a log tavern here and came home one day to find his wife dead and two drunk Indians. He supposed they had wanted liquor, had been refused and had killed her. Mr. Salter killed both Indians, Jo and Jim Dandy. Mr. Gus Nooney, a friend of Salter, erected this marker.
