Curtin House

View of the Jeremiah Curtin house located at 8685 West Grange Avenue. This stone and stucco residence was erected in the mid-1830s by Irish immigrants David and Ellen Curtin. It has been recognized as the boyhood home of linguist and mythologist Jeremiah Curtin. Sold to the Curtin's neighbors, the Trimborn family, in 1866, it remained occupied until the 1920s. The Milwaukee County Historical Society acquired the house in 1952, restored it, and opened it to the public in 1985. A sign above the doorway reads: "Birthplace of Jeremiah Curtin".
