Minneapolis, St. Paul and Sault Ste. Marie railroad locomotive #2024, originally the Wisconsin Central Railroad #89, built by the Schenectady Locomotive Works about 1885. Engineer "Mel" Buck, holding the oil can, was the oldest engineer on the line when this picture was taken. He pulled passenger trains #11 and #12, which were once considered the fastest local trains in the Northwest.Specifications: construction no. 2196, cylinders 17 x 24 inches, drivers 63 inches, boiler pressure 145 lbs.
