Assembly Speaker's desk, showing an unidentified woman, probably a tourist, standing by the Speaker's chair. In front of the Speaker's desk are the clerks' desk and the journalists' tables. This photograph, the original of which is a small faded snapshot that has been digitally restored, is the only known photograph to document this part of the Assembly Chamber. The Speaker's chair is the same as the one in the 1899 photograph, but the Eastlake chairs in this photograph had recently been replaced. These chairs match those in the Supreme Court Chamber (Image ID: 3477) and the Board of Control Office (Image ID: 10504), both located in the 1883 additions, and they probably represent furnishing purchased at that time.
