Carl Sandburg Poses with Two Guides
Image
Carl Sandburg posing with two of the guides at Wade house during his visit to the restored stagecoach inn for its dedication as a historic site. Speaking at the dedication ceremonies, Sandburg said, "After all of us here have vanished, other generations will come here and say how lovely, how thoughtful it was of those people way back there to keep this house as it was when it was a living thing." Sandburg is wearing a suit and the guides are wearing period dresses. A woodburning stove, firearms, mantel, and other historic items are displayed behind a chained off area in the background.
